I've never been there, but Shaker Village in Canterbury, NH is wonderful. The tour gives tons of fascinating information and your girls are probably old enough to appreciate it. Worth a field trip. :<)

For some reason I think went to a Shaker village when we took that family vacation to Maine many years ago. Don't remember it much, except I wanted a dress from there. This is such a stunning shot - postcard for sure!!

I love, love, LOVE the history of the East Coast. While I wouldn't trade my Montana home for anything, I wish we had more "stuff" like this.

Lovely photo June!

Beautiful photo, June. I had to check out that link - looks like a fun place to visit. I may have to go to that music festival there sometime.

Sounds like a perfect day to me. If I lived in Maine, I'd be there.

I am taken back at how beautiful the barns are made and how well they are taken care of.
I love to imagine the barn raising, the hammers pounding and the family all working together.

That's such a beautiful deep red barn! I've been trying to paint my shed a similar colour for months, but all I've got to show for it is about 10 pots of not-quite-the-right-shade-of-red paint.

Sigh.
