If a fairy went for a walk...

by June

She might tread lightly through a moss forest...

or climb a giant birch...

...or scramble over pebbles by the river.

She might hover and swoop over the riffles...

...then pause to admire the fall colors...

...and a bird's feather...

...and play things left behind by the elves.

Sunset would loom.

Sometimes it happens that we go out for a science walk, but we find ourselves borrowing a pair of wings and going instead on a flight of fancy. Yesterday, we explored our favorite woods, alongside our favorite river. With fairy wings, every familiar thing became magical.

That's it... I am moving in!

What captivating images you have taken.
Just magical.
The light and ambience is so enchanting.

Lisa: I wish I could lead you right to that place and moment. It was serenity itself.

Camilla: It was enchanting, but not nearly so much as your journey at Glacier. I am just in awe of the beauty you captured on your triumphant hike. It is so great to get out of ourselves and beyond our own fears.

Enchanting....is the perfect word!

How is the girls quest for a goat going?

So very, very beautiful June!
I completely relate to your descriptions of going out for a science walk and turning into fairies!

Spring Lake: Thank you for your kind words. The girls are still thinking of ways to entice their father into getting a goat at long last. They are ready to hay our meadow by themselves if it will seal the deal. But winter is coming (first frost two nights ago), so I'm thinking it will be another springtime decision. Sigh.

Gardenmama: Science and imagination are very good companions, don't you think? Lots of research always comes out of our fairy wandering. I see it is very much the same at your beautiful place in the world. Thanks for your kind words.

MOSS!! I want to lay in the moss!!! So wonderful I want to jump in the photos. Love the miniature trees too. My mom would pick these and make the most darling miniature woodland arrangements under glass. I may have to dig one out now...hmmm...

To get lost like a child does out in the woods with the tiny world below is so wonderful.

We used to go out and make little corals out of sticks with my Mom. She made us paths through her flowers and a special spot under the apple tree to play. Finding that magic outside feels so good. It is everywhere if we only look.
Lovely photos June!

What a lovely journey, thanks for letting us come along June!

I am glad that I am not the only one who could take endless pictures of moss. I wish I could have a moss carpeted home. Different varieties in each room!

I loved LOVED getting lost in the woods when I was a kid. We lived north of Seattle and an old growth forest was my backyard (sadly, flattened for crummy homes now...) My brother and I would spend hours, days exploring and playing. Beautiful photos!
